The Trireme is the standard Heavy Ship of the Ancient Age. Like all ships of the age, it is built and upgraded at the Dock, and requires the research of Commerce 1 (Barter) so that a Dock can be built, and Military 1 (The Art of War) to become available.
If naval combat arises in the Ancient Age, the Trireme will be essential to win it, as Barks, the only other fighting ship in this age, are quickly destroy by the Trireme. However, Triremes are costly in Timber, occupy two population slots instead of one like most units, and are slower, so Barks are still better for exploring the waters and killing enemy Fishermen.
Unit Costs Edit
The unit base cost is of 40 Timber, 40 Metal, as with subsequent upgrades. However, since this resource is not avaliable in the Ancient Age, building Triremes costs a larger amount of Timber instead. Once the Classical Age is reached, Metal will be available and the change will be reflected in both base and ramping costs.
Unit production cost increases progressively with every Dock unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 2 Metal for the second unit created, increasing further with every new unit until the cost cap is reached, which for military units is +125% of their original base value. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
