The Sunka Wakan is the Lakota unique Ranged Cavalry of the Classical Age. Like all cavalry, it is trained and upgraded at the Stable, and requires the research of Military 2 (Mercenaries) to become avaliable. It replaces the standard Horse Archer.
Compared to Horse Archers, Sunka Wakan have + 3 moves, meaning they move about 0.3 tiles per second faster than Horse Archers. As for the rest, they have the same basic stats and attack bonuses, but gain resources when they damage an enemy resource building, gaining 1/3 of a resource per point of damage dealt. However, this ability only works for buildings that produce Food, Timber, and Metal, and does not work for buildings that gather Knowledge, Wealth, or Oil. This ability to gather resources in addition to an increased speed makes Sunka Wakan even better raiders than their standard counterparts. Adding to that is the national power of the Lakota, which grants +4 Food for every cavalry unit, so a Lakota player should make as much as possible of raiding, and Sunka Wakan are the ones for the task.
Unit Costs Edit
Unit production cost increases progressively with every Stable unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 1 Timber and 1 Wealth for the second unit created, and grows exponentially from then on. Upgrading this unit costs double the base cost of the unit it will upgrade to; this means that the upgrade to Eagle Feather Horse has a cost of 120 Timber, 80 Wealth. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
Version notes Edit
Prior to version 03.02.12.0800, the plunder bonus was 1/6 per point of damage dealt.
