Unit Information Game Strategies History

Scutari are the Spanish unique Heavy Infantry of the Classical Age Classical Age, available to upgrade from Hoplites as soon as the age is reached. Like all infantry, Scutari are trained and upgraded at the Barracks, replacing the standard Phalanx.

Overview Edit

Compared to Phalanx, Scutari have the same base stats, but are at far greater advantage facing cavalry than the already capable Phalanx, as Scutari have a 10% damage bonus against Ranged Cavalry, a 80% damage bonus against Heavy Cavalry, and a 80% damage bonus against Light Cavalry, in addition to the standard bonuses that Heavy Infantry already has against cavalry.

Unit Costs Edit

Unit production cost increases progressively with every Barracks unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 1 Food Food and 1 Metal Metal for the second unit created, increasing further with every new unit until the cost cap is reached, which for military units is +125% of their original base value. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.

Trivia Edit

  • Scutari is a plural form of Scutarius, which means "shield-bearer" in Latin, and refers in particular to the scutum, a large oblong, curved shield used by the Celto-Iberian heavy infantry, the same the Legions themselves are known for, and adopted from Celtic peoples in the first place.
