Scutari are the Spanish unique Heavy Infantry of the Classical Age, avaliable to upgrade from Hoplites as soon as the age is reached. Like all infantry, Scutari are trained and upgraded at the Barracks, replacing the standard Phalanx.
Compared to Phalanx, Scutari have the same base stats, but are at at far greater advantage facing cavalry than the already capable Phalanx, as Scutari have a 10% damage bonus against Ranged Cavalry, a 80% damage bonus against Heavy Cavalry, and a 80% damage bonus against Light Cavalry, in addition to the standard bonuses that Heavy Infantry already have against cavalry.
Unit Costs Edit
Unit production cost increases progressively with every Barracks unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 1 Food and 1 Metal for the second unit created, and grows exponentially from then on. Upgrading this unit costs double the base cost of the unit it will upgrade to; this means that the upgrade to Royal Scutari has a cost of 100 Food, 60 Metal. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
