Royal Balamob Slingers are the Mayan unique Light Infantry of the Classical Age, avaliable to upgrade from Balamob Slingers as soon as the age is reached. Like all infantry, Royal Balamob Slingers are trained and upgraded at the Barracks, replacing the standard Javelineers.
Compared to standard Javelineers, Royal Balamob Slingers have the same stats. However, Royal Balamob Slingers excel at defeating all other Light Infantry, as they have a 50% damage bonus against it. This advantage makes them a superb defensive unit, specially taking into account the Mayan national powers; for in an enemy raid or rush attempt, the enemy's ranged units will be at a crippling disadvantage, while Heavy Infantry will have to cope with the increased power and toughness of Mayan buildings. The advantage that Royal Balamob Slingers have is not as tide-turning as the one Balamob Slingers had in the previous age however, as Cavalry becomes avaliable in the Classical age, and can make short work of them, having the speed Heavy Infantry doesn't to eliminate them and retire, somewhat mitigating the damage from supporting buildings. This is specially true with Heavy Cavalry. Either way, Royal Balamob Slingers are excellent units, and can make the difference between victory or defeat for a Mayan ruler.
Unit Costs Edit
Unit production cost increases progressively with every Barracks unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 1 Food and 1 Timber for the second unit created, and grows exponentially from then on. Upgrading this unit costs double the base cost of the unit it will upgrade to; this means that the upgrade to Eagle Balamob Slingers has a cost of 80 Food, 80 Timber. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
