The Porcelain Tower wonder is based on the Porcelain Tower of Nanjing, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Medieval World. It was a pagoda, which are traditional Chinese buildings and towers used for religious purposes. In addition to religious use, since ancient times, Chinese pagodas have been praised for the spectacular views which they are built to offer, and many famous poems in Chinese history attest to the joy of scaling pagodas.

This historical site was located on the south bank of external Qinhuai River in Nanjing, China. It was constructed in the 15th century during the Ming Dynasty, but was mostly destroyed in the 19th century during the course of the Taiping Rebellion. A modern life size replica of it now exists in Nanjing.


Construct this wonder if you don't want to produce merchants, as they take up population space. Moreover, upon conquering enemy territory or gaining unclaimed land, you do not have to wait for a merchant to be produced, travel to a rare resource, and deploy without being protected.
