Musketeers are the standard Gunpowder Infantry of the Enlightenment age small Enlightenment Age. They upgrade from Arquebusiers and are trained at the Barracks. Like their predecessors, Musketeers are effective against all types of Infantry, but very weak against Cavalry.

Musketeers complement the slower moving Fusiliers, which are much more effective against Cavalry, but lose when fighting Infantry. Compared to Arquebusiers, Musketeers receive an additional damage bonus against Heavy Infantry, to counter the Heavy Infantry's new ranged attack with Fusiliers.

Upgrading Edit

Researching Musketeers will upgrade both Arquebusiers and Crossbowmen. The Foot Archers unit class becomes obsolete and is merged into the Gunpowder Infantry line.

By upgrading from Arquebusiers, the unit receives +10 hit points and +2 attack strength. By upgrading from Crossbowmen, the unit gains +52 hit points and +4 attack strength, however, it also loses some movement speed (-2) and costs more resources to create.

Training Edit

Musketeers are trained and upgraded at the Barracks.

Production cost for this unit increases progressively with every Barracks unit on the field or currently in production. However, the maximum cost for Musketeers is capped at 157 Food Food / 135 Timber Timber. Actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
