The Light Horse is the standard Light Cavalry of the Classical Age Classical Age, trained at the Stable.

Overview[]

The fastest combat unit of its age, the Light Horse excels in direct combat against Light Infantry, Foot Archers Ranged Cavalry, and Artillery Weapons. However, Heavy Cavalry and Heavy Infantry will handily win in a fight.

Although their high speed allows them to pick and choose their engagements, their relatively low health and armor means that all incoming damage (including from buildings, and even the units which Light Horses counter) can be significant. For example, Foot Archers will fall quickly once attacked, but their substantial range advantage can allow them to damage Light Horses from afar - possibly from behind the safety of other units.

With similar unit matchups, Light Horses—and Light Cavalry in general—are arguably superior to Light Infantry in most roles. The main differences come down to the former's higher speed and superior flanking ability versus the latter's higher durability, ranged attack, and ability to increase the Garrison Power of structures.
