Following the previous units of the unit line, Infantry is effective in fighting Heavy Infantry, Artillery Weapons and Support Units. When used in quantity, they can be effective against light-amored vehicles and civilian structures as well. However, they are weak versus Tanks, Machine Guns and garrisoned fortifications like Towers and Forts.
These units can more fairly fast and can inflict continuous damage on enemies.
Like most modern infantry, Infantry has a small chance to counterattack aircraft.
Infantry upgrades from the Industrial Age Riflemen. By upgrading, the unit receives +5 hit points, +1 armor, +2 attack strength, +1 attack range, +5 movement speed, and +1 line of sight. The unit cost remains the same.
Infantry teams are trained and upgraded at the Barracks.
Training cost for this unit increases progressively with every Barracks unit on the field or currently in production (excluding Scouts). However, the maximum cost for Infantry is capped at 180 Food / 157 Timber. Actual production and upgrading costs may differ, though, depending on reseached technologies, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
Training and upgrading cost of all infantry units can be reduced by adopting the Despotism government (-25%), connecting the Salt rare resource (-10%), and/or developing Military Technology ahead of age (-5% unit cost, -10% upgrading cost).
- The European styled infantry units are armed with Thompson submachine guns.
- The German/Fascist styled infantry units are armed with MP 40 submachine guns.
- The African, Indian, Asian and North American styled infantry units are armed with Sten Mk II submachine guns.
