The Horse Archer is the first Ranged Cavalry unit. It becomes available in the Classical Age. Like all Ranged Cavalry, Horse Archers are fast raiders able to fire even while moving. They are effective when fighting Heavy Infantry, Artillery Weapons, Civilians and Support Units. Horse Archers are countered with Light Cavalry and Foot Archers.

Like all cavalry, the Horse Archer can garrison inside a Fort/Castle/Fortress/Redoubt, but not inside a City or Tower.

Training Edit

The Horse Archer is trained and upgraded at the Stable.

Production cost for this unit increases progressively with every Stable unit on the field or currently in production. However, the maximum cost for Horse Archer is capped at 135 Timber Timber / 90 Wealth Wealth. Actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.

Unique Horse Archers Edit

  • The Egyptians train the slightly stronger Chariot instead.
  • The Lakota train the faster Sunka Wakan instead. They also receive Ranged Cavalry upgrades for free and receive +4 Food Food for every cavalry instead of building Farms.
  • The Mongols train the Nomad instead. They also create mounted units 10% cheaper and 20% faster and receive free Ranged Cavalry units when completing a Stable.
  • The Nubians train the Camel Archer instead.
