The Bark is the standard Light Ship of the Ancient Age. Like all ships of the age, it is built and upgraded at the Dock, and requires the research of Commerce 1 (Barter) so that a Dock can be built, and Military 1 (The Art of War) to become available.
Being the first Light Ships, Barks are used primarily for exploring the waters with their speed, and making short work of enemy Fishermen, which can be severely damaged even while escaping, as Barks can fire sideways while on the move. This ability won't save a Bark from an enemy Trireme however, since the are too dangerous and accurate for a hit-and-run attempt to be worth the effort.
Unit Costs Edit
Unit production cost increases progressively with every Dock unit on the field or currently in production. The default increase is of 1 Food for the second unit created, increasing further with every new unit until the cost cap is reached, which for military units is +125% of their original base value. It's important to note, however, that these prices are the default standard, and actual production and upgrading costs may differ, depending on researched technologies/ages, connected rare resources, or adopted governments.
